FAQs
  • » How do I know if I can receive services at CCC?
  • Anyone who is HIV+ and who is a resident of York, Lancaster or Chester Counties of South Carolina may receive case management and medical services at CCC.  Anyone who is a resident of these three counties may receive a FREE HIV test.
  • » I don't have insurance, can I still recieve services?
  • Currently, 41% of CCC's clients are without any source of insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. CCC uses a sliding fee scale (based on income level) to help determine how much a client should pay for services, and we make every effort to provide services at a very reasonable cost. We also rely on grant programs and donations to help provide care to clients who do not have a payer source.
  • » Are services offered in Spanish or are interpreters available?
  • CCC makes every effort to make these services available to clients or potential clients when indicated.
  • » How can I tell if someone is positive?
  • You can not tell if someone is or is not HIV+ just by the way they look or by what they tell you!
  • » How do I know if I should get tested?
  • Anyone who has engaged in any risky behavior should get tested and continue to get retested EVERY 3 MONTHS after any risky behavior.
  • » What are risky behaviors?
  • Any activity that may put you at risk for HIV or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including having unprotected oral, anal and/or vaginal sex; improper use of a condom, sharing needles, having multiple sex or drug-sharing partners, having sex under the influence of drugs or alcohol, having an STD or having a partner with an STD, or having sex with anyone who has practiced any of these behaviors.
  • » I'm scared of needles, but I think I may need to be tested. Are there other choices?
  • CCC does perform tests using the traditional blood draw method (with needles), which is the most accurate way of testing for HIV. But we also offer a quick, painless alternative called OraQuick that tests oral fluid from your mouth to see if it contains HIV antibodies.  Results from an OraQuick test are available in as little as 20 minutes.
